Birdie's Playhouse creates rhythmic music, media and live shows that get kids to "shake their tail feathers," founded by the only Latina Ray Charles backup singer in history Birdie Mendoza. Their debut CD, The Wild World of Wildlife, won a Parents' Choice and Gold National Parenting Publications Award. Their new CD Move Like An Animal won CD of the Year from Creative Child Magazine and a Parents Choice Silver. Internet radio such as Saturday Morning Cereal Bowl and Imagination Parade spin their tunes, and they've received rave reviews from press, parents and kids alike. Their new CD also has a Spanish-language version Muévete Como Los Animales which top 100 blog Spanglish Baby says "Tiene TUMBAO!"

Birdie's Playhouse has performed at top family venues such as the Natural History Museum, Skirball Center, Kidspace Museum, Zimmer Museum, McCabe's, Levitt Pavilion, Grand Park, San Diego's New Children's Museum and hundreds of festivals, malls, schools and birthdays. They opened for education legends Greg & Steve at the 2014 National Head Start Association conference and were top 10 finalists two years running in RedTricycleLA's Totally Awesome awards. They also won Gigmasters' Rising Star award two years in a row and have performed for the children of celebrities such as Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Dave Grohl, Chris Noth, Constance Marie (George Lopez Show) & Courtney Thorne-Smith.

Founder Birdie Mendoza (aka Michele Moreno) has toured the world singing with artists such as Ray Charles and Spain's Raphael and has sung on several TV & film scores including an episode of HBO's Six Feet Under see Credits. She also fronts the Latin Jazz Birdie Mendoza Band performing at grownup special events and boasting clients ranging from E & J Gallo Winery to Skechers. In 2007 as Michele Moreno, Birdie released a grownup indie CD Plastic Garden. She is also a voiceover artist and actress with co-star credits on shows like The Shield, Parenthood & Boston Legal and has a B.A. in modern thought and literature from Stanford University. She is also a voting member of the Grammys and Latin Grammys.
